The
Indian Mutiny of 1857 was a horrific period when several
Sepoy units (Indian soldiers serving in the British East
India company Army), turned on their British officers, and
went on a rampage of bloody and gruesome slaughter of
British troops and their families (including women and
children). The slaughter continued on every European and
Christian that could be found. The bloody Mutiny was
instigated by a Hindu Sepoy called Mangal Pandey, who is
today revered all over India as a national hero.
